Tar

Tar (they/he) is the patron god of the Shadowfolk and is associated with calm, flexibility, and secrecy. They're known by several other names: Void, Dark, Moon, Night, and the Shaded One are common aliases, though Tar is generally understood between regions.

Tar is the sort of entity that would build and care for a very elaborate ant farm, then ramble about it to anyone in the vicinity, but who struggles to carry a conversation about non-ant-related topics. The Shadowfolk and the local ecology are their ant farm. They take meticulous care of the Shadowfolk, sometimes without their realizing a god is looking out for them, and they've helped the population bounce back from near-extinction.

While he adores the Shadowfolk and sees them as his adopted children, Tar tends to avoid other sentient species as much as possible. That said, he will adopt them if they integrate themselves into Shadowfolk culture.
