Mechos

In scientific usage, Mechos are the mechanical sciences of Eona. This covers fields such as physics, robotics, computation, chemistry, and astronomy. Not much distinction is made between these fields, as they're all seen as applications of the same core idea. It's not known what that core is, but the current consensus is that there's some uniting thread between all Mechos sciences^[1].

A scientist in the field of Mechos is typically called a Mechomer.

In common usage, Mechos almost exclusively refers to robotics and machinery. This narrowed definition frustrates many scientists that don't work on robotics, as it ignores the diversity of Mechos sciences. Other common uses of "Mechos" include:

• Mechos/Mechbags is an Unan slang term for Sapients that borders on a slur in some regions (much like calling humans "meatsuits" comes across badly).
• Mechos is also a slang term for prosthetics, as many cheap prosthetics are "pure Mechos" rather than Biomechos.
• Between Sapients, Mechos is a slang term for replacement parts.
• In Tetra, Mechos refers to scavenged objects made of machined parts.

Mechos has taken precedence over Bios after the Disaster's fallout created fear around Bios technologies. Most new developments are purely Mechos.
